Every Game Announced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024


Xbox came out swinging with a hefty 31 announcement showcase representing what the Microsoft hopes will be a stellar line-up of games for Xbox, PC, and even Playstation players alike enjoy for years to come. The following is a list of all the announcements and links to the trailers as provided on the official Xbox YouTube account. 


Call of Duty Black Ops 6

Xbox wasted no time in revealing the next installment in the massive Call of Duty franchise. This time the franchise moves forward in history during the 1990s just after the Soviet Union has collapsed, ending the Cold War. The trailer features the expected high-octane action and grand set-pieces the series is known for but Phil Spencer also took the occasion to officially announce Call of Duty will be coming day-and-date to Xbox Game Pass when it officially launches October 25, 2024. 


DOOM: The Dark Ages

It seems as though the rumors were true. DOOM is going medieval. Players can expect familiar fast-paced and gruesome first-person action with a bit of a medieval twist thrown in. Fans worried the combat would primarily switch to a melee focused system can rest assured as DOOM Guy can be seen with a variety of guns as one would expect from a typical DOOM title. The next title in the highly acclaimed DOOM franchise is expected to release next year, 2025.


State of Decay 3

Though leaked just a little prior to the full official reveal, State of Decay 3 gets a full length reveal trailer which shows off intense zombie violence and a dramatic tone focused on perseverance during tragedy and the need for survivors to band together against the zombie masses. As of yet, no release date, window, or year has been given.


Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Long-time Bioware fans finally got their first look into the fourth game in the Dragon Age franchise with a cinematic trailer for Dragon Age: The Veilguard (previously titled Dreadwolf). For now, this only represents a look into the tone and art style of the highly anticipated and potentially massively impactful game from the once-legendary RPG studio with a full in-depth gameplay reveal coming June 11. The expected release window for Dragon Age: The Veilguard Fall 2024.


Starfield: Shattered Space

Fans of the divisive Bethesda title can rejoice thanks to a new look into the upcoming DLC for Starfield. The trailer shows off impressive looking locations and gameplay segments that are a feast for the eyes. Bethesda also announced a free content update dropping today which will give players even more quests, locations, and other miscellaneous things to do across the stars. 


Fallout 76: Skyline Valley

After many updates and DLC inclusions Fallout 76 seems to be in a good place as a live-service video game. So much so that Bethesda can keep making content for it, hence the announcement of Skyline Valley, a new expansion upon the massive game that expands upon the map and adds even more quests, loot, and monsters to battle as you explore the wastes alone or with friends. The new expansion is anticipated to release early 2025.


Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

A brand new title from developer Sandfall Interactive sees you attempting to stop a threat called the “Paintress” who seems to be killing off every single person who reaches whatever age she paints on a monolith. The trailer reveals stunning art direction, an intriguing story, and stylized turn-based gameplay. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 expects to release sometime in 2025.


South of Midnight

Announced at last years showcase, South of Midnight now receives a new trailer which explores the gameplay style of this unique title. Players can expect to explore swamps, bogs, and other icons of southern landscapes in an art-style that crosses a line between cartoon and stop-motion. Players can also look forward to using strange powers to traverse areas and take on grotesque creatures attempting to block your path. South of Midnight is eyeing a release sometime in 2025.


World of Warcraft: The War Within

No, it’s not quite WoW on consoles but with Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision and Blizzard, it is not unreasonable to expect to see World of Warcraft advertised at an Xbox event. The new expansion for World of Warcraft harkens back to all of the previous expansions before moving into new content that WoW lore experts will be thrilled with. World of Warcraft: The War Within launches August 26, 2024.


METAL GEAR SOLID DELTA: SNAKE EATER

A more in-depth look into the remake of 2004 title, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. This trailer features story snippets, much of which focus on the opening hours of the original game, as well as many gameplay segments which show off various gameplay mechanics such as costumes, different camo types, close-quarters combat, among others. As of yet, no release date, window, or year has been given.


Sea of Thieves Season 13

The pirate swash-buckling adventures continue with this trailer for season 13 of Sea of Thieves. Players will make note of the trailer’s title “Become a Villain” perhaps implying some sinister or mischievous gameplay elements being added in to spice things up. Season 13 begins July 25, 2024.


Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

A new title from developer A44, makers of critically praised Ashen, are back with a brand new title that looks to be taking the budget and graphical fidelity to the maximum. With a fennec fox companion and new powers, you will traverse the land and battle your way through enemies in what looks to be a gorgeous and colorful world. Players can get their hands on Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn on Game Pass July 18, 2024.


Age of Mythology: Retold

A remake of classic 2002 PC title, Age of Mythology looks to take the strategic gameplay that it is known for as a spin-off of the Age of Empires franchise and bring it into the modern era with a new look. Age of Mythology: Retold launches on September 4, 2024.


Perfect Dark

The triumphant return of a classic franchise, Perfect Dark looks like it may be the modern reboot that the title desperately needs. After being announced 4 years ago at Geoff Keighly’s Game Awards in 2020, Perfect Dark now looks like a fully realized first-person shooter with a unique style, atmosphere, and story. As of yet, no release date, window, or year has been given.


Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred

The first expansion to Diablo IV is well on its way in this new release date trailer. The cinematic look into the story and atmosphere of this expansion is not for the faint of heart and reflects an intense narrative. Diablo players can expect to play the expansion when it releases on October 8, 2024.


Fable

The reboot to long-time Xbox exclusive franchise, Fable, was shown off once again reflecting a commitment from Xbox to deliver on its promises of more stellar first-party Xbox games. The trailer evoked similar themes fans of Fable will be familiar with such as the fantasy setting, action gameplay, and a comedic tone that lays over the entire experience. This new adventure in the long-running Fable franchise is set to release sometime in 2025.


FragPunk

A brand-new 5v5 hero shooter that looks to set itself apart from its competitors by incorporating a “rule-changing” mechanic. Shown off were the ability to change fundamentals about the game, its mechanics, and an ability to even completely alter the appearance and hitboxes of other players with things such as a big-head mode. The new hero shooter is expected to land sometime in 2025.


Winter Burrow

A small cozy looking game that puts you in control of a little mouse as she attempts to build a nice home and life in a snowy, cold world. It looks as though there are some story beats and character interactions to uncover throughout the experience as well which should keep players interested. Players will be able to build their own mouse-home sometime in early 2025.


Mixtape

Skateboarding, hanging out with your friends, and blasting unique music are all a part of this new title shown off at the Xbox Games Showcase. Fans of slice-of-life games will likely find a home with this title. Players interested in Mixtape can expect to see more of it in 2025.


Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

The beautiful game that your PC can’t run has just been revealed. Microsoft Flight Simulator looks to incorporate familiar elements from its 2023 counterpart while adding in some extra incentive to leave your aviation vehicle in order to explore the gorgeous areas you typically would fly around above and gawk at. Players can soar their way through the skies on November 19, 2024. 


The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road

A two-in one announcement for the massively popular MMORPG. The trailer focuses primarily on the party and the merry-making to be had by playing massive online games such as ESO but also incentivizes new players to join up by announcing all DLC will be playable free for a limited time in celebration of The Elder Scrolls Online’s 10th anniversary. On top of that. The announcement of a release date for The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road, a brand new expansion for the game with a new story and locations to explore launching June 18, 2024. 


Life is Strange: Double Exposure

The next entry in the Life is Strange universe brings back the main character, Max, from the original titles in a  brand new reality warping adventure. This title brings an updated look to the franchise, new powers to explore during the narrative, and what is surely to be a cast of characters and a plot full of drama and choices. This new narrative in the Life is Strange universe is set to release October 29, 2024.


Mecha BREAK

A new mech action game that looks to challenge Armored Core 6’s supremacy in the genre in recent years. Mecha BREAK looks to incorporate detailed and in-depth mech customization with high-powered action to deliver a mech action experience to remember. The mech action is expected to begin sometime in 2025.


Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

A new full look into the highly anticipated Indiana Jones title from Wolfenstein developer Machine Games. This trailer takes us primarily through an entire story segment of the game and showcases how the game will incorporate first-person gameplay as well as cutscenes that evoke the feeling and wonder of the films. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle anticipates a release sometime later this year.


WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers

A new game by Chinese studio Leenzee Games, WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers places us into a dangerous but beautiful China of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). Gameplay looks to be heavily inspired by FromSoftware with particular love to Sekiro’s parry based stance-breaking gameplay. Players are sure to be in for a challenge when WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers releases in 2025 on Game Pass. 


Avowed

The fantasy RPG from famous Fallout: New Vegas and Outer Worlds developer Obsidian received a new story trailer. This new look into the hotly anticipated title showcases bright, colorful, and varied landscapes, small snippets of gameplay, and a brief look into the story of this wondrous fantasy world. Obsidian anticipates players will be able to explore their new fantasy world later this year.


Atomfall

A brand-new game from Rebellion Developments, makers of Sniper Elite, reveals an intriguing and diverse world to explore. Atomfall looks to incorporate many different locales, styles, and environs for players to explore while holding onto some of the core gameplay elements that Sniper Elite was best known for. Players can expect to play in this new and inventive world sometime in 2025.


Assassin’s Creed Shadows

With two characters essential to the main story, this new trailer gives fans of the Assassin’s Creed series a look into what to expect from the new title. Naoe, the ninja-assassin, is shown with a clear lean toward the stealth and shadows while Yasuke, the towering samurai, takes on enemies head-on with heavy strikes. More from Assassin’s Creed Shadows to be revealed at Ubisoft’s own event, Ubisoft Forward, tomorrow, June 10. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is also set to release on November 15, 2024. 


S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl

The next title from Ukrainian developers GSC Game World, brings players into a desolate, dirty, and unnerving post-apocalyptic world. Both monsters and human enemies alike are sure to pose significant challenges as players attempt to explore and survive in this new survival shooter. Players can expect to explore the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on September 5, 2024.


Three New Xbox Series X|S Consoles

Microsoft announced an entire new slate of Xbox consoles for consumers to pick up. Two of the new consoles, a Series X and a Series S, are digital only consoles with upgraded SSD storage and a stark white coat of paint. The third is a special edition Xbox Series X with a sleek galaxy skin and a whopping 2 TB of SSD storage.


Gears of War: E-Day

The final game of the showcase, Gears of War: E-Day is a return to the franchise and a return to a previous time. This time, Gears of War: E-Day looks to be set in the past, prior to even the first title, and gives the players an opportunity to see the world collapse in real-time as the Locust horde first invades the surface. This new title looks to be a promising return to this long-running and beloved third-person shooter franchise. As of yet, no release date, window, or year has been given.


Xbox came into this showcase with something to prove and it shows. 31 announcements for a variety of games: brand new titles from new faces, classics re-made for the modern era, and a return to form for some of the most treasured franchises in the Xbox pantheon. The only thing left to see is if Xbox can deliver not only on quantity of titles, but on quality as well.
