June 2024 Nintendo Direct - Every Trailer and Release Date


The long anticipated summer Nintendo Direct has finally arrived. It felt as though Nintendo held nothing back as they made 33 announcements across a roughly 45 minute showcase. With so many announcements it can be easy for some to slip by or be forgotten. Don't worry, we've got you covered! Below is a list of every announcement and the release dates/windows provided from the latest Nintendo Direct! 


Mario & Luigi: Brothership - Nov. 7


Starting off the showcase strong was the announcement of Mario & Luigi: Brothership, a new installment in the beloved Mario & Luigi RPG franchise. The new title is the first in 9 years and looks to bring the exploration and turn-based gameplay the series is known for into the modern era with a strikingly distinct visual style.



Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition - July 18


Classic titles with a new twist. The previously announced collection of retro NES titles was last revealed just a month ago but has received a new look and release date. The game features intense speedrunning elements, survival modes, and more.



Fairy Tail 2 - Winter


A brand new game based on the popular Shonen anime series, Fairy Tail 2 takes players into the thick of the Alvarez Empire arc of the anime. The game serves as a direct sequel to the previous 2020 RPG and features similar themes and combat elements enhanced and improved for players to enjoy.



Fantasian: Neo Dimension - Holiday 2024


From Final Fantasy series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu, comes a narrative focused RPG that was originally playable only on Apple Arcade. Switch players will now be able to experience this new dramatic turn-based RPG from some of the most legendary names in the business. 



Free Basketball Update for Nintendo Switch Sports - Summer 2024


For all of the Wii Sports Resort fans out there that felt like Nintendo Switch Sports was missing a little something extra, basketball has now been announced as a free update to the game. Players will be able to download the free update later this summer. 



Mio: Memories in Orbit - 2025


One of the surprising new stand-out titles revealed at this Nintendo Direct, Mio: Memories in Orbit is a 2D metroidvania in which you explore "the Vessel" and avoid or defeat the dangerous rogue machines that attempt to hinder your progress. This world premier was a pleasant surprise and featured a unique and stunning art style. 



Free Disney Illusion Island "Mystery in Monoth" Update - Today


More content is coming to the popular game Disney Illusion Island. Players must uncover the mystery in this new gameplay expansion that can be played in full later today. 



Hello Kitty Island Adventure - 2025


Set to be a timed exclusive for the Nintendo Switch, Hello Kitty Island Adventure looks to scratch the itch for fans of Animal Crossing and similar titles. Craft, explore, and try not to become overwhelmed by cuteness in this new title heading to Switch next year. 



Looney Toons: Wacky World of Sports - Fall 2025


Couldn't get enough of Space Jam 2? Looney Toons has you covered with a new collection of sports games featuring the iconic Warner Brothers characters. From golf to basketball to soccer and everything in-between, players will take on the roles of various Looney Toons characters and attempt to use various power-ups to their advantage in order to win a diverse set of athletic contests.



Among Us Free Update - Today


Originally this new Among Us update trailer leaked ahead of time, cueing all paying attention to the potential timing of this Nintendo Direct. Now, with the official announcement, Among Us players will be receiving new crew mates and imposter roles with this free update that is downloadable today! 



Farmagia - November 1


A bright and colorful monster-ranching meets farming simulator meets RPG game, Farmagia, was announced with an official release date. The art style reminds one of the Fairy Tail game from just earlier in the showcase but with its own flair. Farmagia looks to be an intriguing mix of genres and gameplay styles which helped it stand out among the crowd.



Donkey Kong Country Returns HD - January 16, 2025


A remastered version of the 2010 Wii title was announced at the new Nintendo Direct. Fans of the now 14 year old game can re-experience this classic in full HD quality and updated controls for the first time since its original release.



Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake/Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake - November 11/2025


A Dragon Quest III title was previously teased via social media prior to the Direct. Now, fans of the franchise and new players interested in the series alike get a first full look at the remake of Dragon Quest III. The new remake of the classic title retains the 2D classic sprite style but updates it with gorgeous backgrounds, higher fidelity, and updated mechanics. At the same time, remakes were officially announced for Dragon Quest I & II which will be released as a package sometime later, completing the Erdrick Trilogy. 



Funko Fusion - September 13


Funko Pops are still a massive collectible market with crossovers that rivals LEGO in size and scale. Funko Pop games aren't a new thing—fans of Gears of War may remember the shocking announcement of Gears of Pop!, a mobile title from 2019—but a massive console crossover as seen here is a shocking new turn of events for the massive collectible brand.



Luigi's Mansion 2 HD - June 27


An official release date for the remaster of 2013 3DS title Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (known as Luigi's Mansion 2 in Japan) was revealed with this short trailer. Switch players will be able to finally play this highly acclaimed sequel to the original Luigi's Mansion very soon as Nintendo continues to expand upon the 3DS games ported to the Switch system. 



The New Denpa Men - July 22 


One of the stranger games from the latest Direct, The New Denpa Men, a new game in a long-running RPG franchise, was given a release date. The New Denpa Men will be a timed exclusive on Nintendo Switch and will also be free-to-play for all players. 



Metal Slug Attack: Reloaded - Today


Previously released on mobile in 2016, Metal Slug Attack: Reloaded is a remaster of the aforementioned mobile title. Set in the Metal Slug universe and utilizing similarly gorgeous 2D sprite artwork, players will use quick thinking and strategy in this tower-defense game. 



Darkest Dungeon II - July 15 


The sequel to the massively popular and highly praised rouge-like indie RPG, Darkest Dungeon, is finally coming to Switch. Players will embark on a dark journey through turn-based combat as they try to keep their characters alive, upgrading and improving them along the journey. Darkest Dungeon II was originally released in early access in 2021 before being officially released in 2023 on PC with Playstation and Switch ports announced for July 15, 2024. 



Game Boy Advanced & Nintendo 64 Mature 17+ Virtual Console Announcements - Today


Nintendo took the liberty to expand upon its Nintendo Switch Online virtual library by announcing four new titles coming to the GBA and N64 service. Fans of the GBA handheld will be able to re-experience The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/Four Swords and Metroid: Zero Mission. N64 players will be able to play Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Perfect Dark. All of these titles will be playable today with a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. 



Phantom Brave: the Lost Hero - 2025


The latest game in a long-running tactical RPG with roots in the Playstation 2 era, Phantom Brave: Lost Hero is set in a colorful world with strategic gameplay players will recognize from the 2004/2005 title. 



Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics - 2024


Marvel vs Capcom 2 is back! After being unpurchasable for MvC2 players for so long, fans can now finally play this classic and massively popular fighting game on Nintendo Switch. Alongside the legendary fighting game were six other different games wrapped into this collection including other fighting games in the Marvel vs Capcom franchise and even a beat em' ups in The Punisher.



Super Mario Party Jamboree - October 17, 2024


A brand new Mario Party title is making its way to the Nintendo Switch! This title features a bevy of new boards with new unique gimmicks, a collection of new mini-games, and a massive 20-player mode never seen before in the franchise. 



The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - September 26, 2024


Ever since the very first trailers for 2024 title, Tears of the Kingdom, fans of the franchise and beyond have called for a full console title with a playable Zelda rather than the typical sword-wielding, green tunic donning Link. While Zelda has been playable in games that share her name before, notably the Nintendo DS titles, Echoes of Wisdom looks to be the first truly Zelda centric and focused story centered around the titular Hyrulian princess. The game shares a similar art style to the previously released remake of Link's Awakening and introduces an entirely new way to complete puzzles and battle foes with the new echo system. 



Just Dance 2025 Edition - October 2024


The next title in the annual Just Dance franchise was officially confirmed for Nintendo Switch with an October release. New songs, new vibe, same old Just Dance



LEGO Horizon Adventures - Holiday 2024


Originally showcased at Geoff Keighly's Summer Games Fest showcase, the crossover between Sony first-party franchise Horizon and worldwide toy company LEGO was given another look for Nintendo Switch players. The first partnership between LEGO, Playstation, and Nintendo is set to bring the post-apocalyptic machina world of Horizon to a wider, younger audience. 



Stray - Holiday 2024


Game of the Year nominated indie title, Stray, received a new trailer with a release window. Playing the role of the most adorable little kitty, Switch players will take the role of this feline hero as they explore around this strange world trying to find their way home. 



Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game - Holiday 2024


Have you ever played Animal Crossing and thought "man, I wish I was a tiny, hairy-footed Hobbit instead!" Well, your cries have been answered. Tales of the Shire is a heavily Animal Crossing inspired game set in the massive and sprawling universe of Middle-Earth complete with Hobbits, Hobbit-Holes, and Hobbit adventures. 



Ace Attorney Investigations Collection - September 6, 2024


Ace Attorney fans rejoice! Two Ace Attorney titles once locked onto the Nintendo DS systems are now bring brought out onto the Nintendo Switch with updated hand-drawn HD graphics. If you are a fan of the classic sprite art style then fear not as you will be able to swap between the two according to your preference. 



The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy - Early 2025


A brand new game from the folks that brought you Danganronpa comes a new strategy RPG set in an apocalyptic world. Playing as main character Takumi Sumino, you will be enrolled in the Last Defense Academy, a place where you have to survive 100 days as you make one last stand against the horde of monsters threatening your way of life. Fans of the Danganronpa style and story will find an easy home in this game as it emulates similar themes and artwork throughout this initial reveal trailer. 



Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven - October 24


The remake of the classic 1993 RPG, Romancing SaGa 2 places you in the throne of the Varennes Empire as you attempt to defeat the seven heroes who have fallen into darkness. The game features fully remade 3D graphics to contrast with the classic title's 2D sprite art work. The game takes place over the course of generations where your choices will shape the history of the empire. 



Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - 2025


Much like the title, Metroid Prime 4 is still beyond our reach with a vague release window of next year. However, Nintendo did allow us a glimpse into how the new title from the critically acclaimed Metroid Prime franchise will look like. As the final game featured, Metroid Prime 4 is set to be a major release for Nintendo with some speculating the visual fidelity showcased in the trailer to be too high for the current Switch to handle, possible hinting at it being a Switch 2 launch title or dual release title similar to Zelda: Breath of the Wild which released both on Switch and Wii U.
